These songs have a classic sample that I don't quite remember why I downloaded (maybe it was because of the Zomby EP "Where were you in '92"?). The sample in question is is the acapella for the song "Rock the boat", by Aaliyah, whose photo I put on the cover art. This may be one of her last published pictures, since she died in a plain crash after recording the music video for this song.

When she died, Aaliyah (22) was in a relationship with R. Kelly, who was 34 years old at the time. They had been together since he was 27 and she was 15(!). This man has been repeatedly accused of sexual abuse and has been actually charged for sexually abusing four women, three of whom were minors at the time.

Regarding the acapella, I ended playing arpund with it for a long time, writing remixes around it, basically recontextualizing it again and again, changing the chords around it. I also tried to recreate that Burial thing, where he will play a song and then just cut it and play another track, creating different suites. I wanted both parts to be related in some way, so as not not throw the listener off (I'm looking at you, Rival Dealer).

I love both of these tracks: I'm very happy with the textures, the chords and the harmonic progressions.

Traté de recrear lo que hace Burial, cuando William Bevan escibe una canción y luego la corta y pone otra pista, creando diferentes suites que se engloban en un concepto más grande. Pero quería que ambas partes estuvieran relacionadas de alguna manera, para no confundir al oyente.

No tengo ninguna duda de que, si no quieres pagar por estas pistas, puedes descargarlas con una extensión de navegador.
